Pakistani media give wide coverage to Supreme Leader remarks

Islamabad, Feb 23, IRNA – The remarks of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei saying that Iran would not yield to any kind of western pressure over its peaceful nuclear program got wide coverage in Pakistani newspapers on Thursday.

Leading newspaper ‘Dawn’ quoted Ayatollah Khamenei as saying, “The Iranian nation has never been seeking an atomic weapon and never will be.”

 

“Possessing a nuclear bomb constitutes a major sin,” he told a group of nuclear scientists, adding, “Pressure, sanctions, threats and assassinations will not bear any fruit and Iran will continue its path of (nuclear) scientific development.”

 

Meanwhile, ‘The News’ and ‘The Nation’ quoted Ayatollah Khamenei as saying that the Iranian nation has never been seeking an atomic weapon and never will be.

 

He said possessing a nuclear bomb ‘constitutes a major sin’, adding that pressure, sanctions, threats and assassinations will not bear any fruit and Iran will continue its path of (nuclear) scientific development.

 

‘Daily Times’ quoted Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as saying Iran’s nuclear policies would not change despite mounting international pressure against what the West says are Iran’s plans to obtain nuclear bombs.

 

“With God’s help, and without paying attention to propaganda, Iran’s nuclear course should continue firmly and seriously,” he said.

 

‘Pakistan Today’ and Business Recorder said Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei retiterated that Iran’s nuclear work will go on. “The Iranian nation has never been seeking an atomic weapon and never will be. It will prove to the world that a nuclear weapon cannot create supremacy,” he said.
