Tunisian Politicians: “Friends of Syria” Conference, Conspiracy to Target Resistance

Local Editor Tunisian political sources confirmed that convening the so-called “Friends of Syria” Conference is a “conspiracy to target the line of resistance in the region”. Several civil community bodies and a group of political and national figures called upon the Tunisian government to rebuff hosting the conference, as it represents a blatant foreign interference in Syria, announcing its support to dialogue and reforms launched in Damascus. In this context, Tunisian National Democratic Labor Party member, Abdul Razak al-Hamamy stated, “We know that the USA, along with the arrogant countries and Western military apparatus represented by the NATO, have sought and still seek to constrain the Arab revolutions”. On his part, member of Tunisia’s National Board for Resistance Support and Anti-normalization with Zionism, Ahmad al-Kehlawy stated, “We are ashamed with this conference is held in Tunisia”. “Tunisian will never be a headquarters or platform for the destruction of Syria. Syria has always maintained the national, patriotic, and Arab firms, regardless of the ruling regime”, al-Kehlawy added. Moreover, media reports indicated that independent political figures decided to organize a popular gathering to affirm their rejection to any foreign interference in Syria, and protest the “Friends of Syria” conference in their country.
