Kuwaiti Official Hails Iran’s Important Role in Regional Equations

TEHRAN (FNA)- Kuwaiti Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah al-Sabah in a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stressed Iran’s important role in the regional equations, and said Kuwait intends to further expand ties with Tehran.

During the meeting, al-Sabah submitted the Kuwaiti emir’s message to President Ahmadinejad, and said that Iran plays a key role in regional equations.

Referring to the growing trend of bilateral ties in various fields, he added that the Kuwait emir is determined to establish strong ties with Iran.

Iran and Kuwait have sought to expand bilateral ties through exchanging several high-ranking delegations in recent months.

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and his Kuwaiti counterpart Muhammad Al-Sabah al-Salim al-Sabah in a meeting on the sidelines of the 10th ministerial meeting of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) in Kuwait in October 2011 called for the further expansion of the bilateral ties and use of the existing potentials and capacities in a move to boost mutual cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Salehi and al-Sabah explored avenues for the expansion of the two countries’ relations.

Salehi pointed to the two countries’ age-old ties, and stressed the two sides’ responsibility to prepare the grounds for tranquility, mutual trust and broader relations in a bid to promote welfare for the two countries’ people.

He stressed that meetings of the two countries’ joint economic commission are highly crucial for the expansion of Iran-Kuwait relations in different fields.
