Iran Exports $3.53bln of Petrochemicals in 11 Months
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran exported 3.725 million tons of petrochemicals worth more than 3.53 billion dollars in the first 11 months of current Iranian calendar year (March 20-February 18, 2013).
Liquid gas, weighing 1.44 million tons, accounts for the main item in the basket of petrochemicals exported by Iran Petrochemical Commerce Company.
Meanwhile, Iran Petrochemical Company Director for Marketing Department Jamshid Mohammadi said polymer products account for about 80 percent of domestic sales.
The annual output of Iran’s petrochemical plants has reached 57 million tons after commissioning Mehr Mandegar (Lasting Kindness) projects in the petrochemical sector, Head of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Abdolhossein Bayat said in January.
Bayat made the remarks at the opening ceremony of Kermanshah polymer plant in Western Iran last month.
He noted that Kermanshah polymer plant has increased Iran’s annual polymer output to 6.3mln tons, adding that the country’s overall petrochemical production capacity now stands at 57mln tons per year.
Bayat said that the private sector has supplied Kermanshah polymer plant with 73 percent of the total $4.24bln investment required for launching the plant.
